Vintage framed oil on canvas of a reclining woman wearing a white slip dress. Signed and dated 1957 in the lower left by Gabriel Mayorga (1911-1988). The figural scene is painted in soft blue, green, and purple, giving it a dream-like quality. Displayed in a thick wood frame painted gray and white tones.
The artist Gabriel Mayorga worked across mediums as a painter, sculptor and illustrator in New York City. He studied at the National Academy of Design with Leon Kroll and Ivan Olinsky, and at the Art students League with Robert Brachman. From 1940-1965, Mayorga was the director of Mannequins by Mayorga, Inc in New York. He taught at the Pan American Art School from 1960 until 1972.
Condition: In excellent condition with minimal wear as pictured. Some scratches and flecks of paint loss, but overall in great vintage condition.
