MCM framed piece of white plaster bas-relief panel reproducing a Classical Greek frieze. The image shows several figures atop horses, with a cast signature "Henning F 1820 June 20 S.13" at the lower edge. Displayed against a blue velvet background in a wood frame painted blue and gold.
John Henning was a Scottish born artist and one of the first to access Lord Elgin's collection of Greek sculpture to copy them as slate moulds for reproduction. It took him 12 years to reproduce his scale model masterpieces of both the Parthenon and Bassae friezes at a twentieth of their original size.
