Antique bronze sculpture of the Roman messenger god Mercury running with purse in outstretched hand. The figure stands atop a round ball with decorative base affixed to a square mustard yellow marble base. The front of marble has a round silver plaque inscribed "L.A.W. / From G. F. / Nov. 1891." Mercury figure appears to be modeled after the famous 1580 sculpture of Mercury by Giambologna made for a garden fountain in Rome for Ferdinando de Medici.
Condition: In excellent condition with some wear consistent with age. Mercury's lower hand is empty and appears to be missing the caduceus/staff he once held.
